Conspiracy Theory

Due to the encouragement of a good friend I ended up hauling up to Abilene just in time to have some dinner, see some friends and familiar faces, and catch the Saturday night show of SING SONG The 50th show. I couldn't help but feel like I would be missing out on something special, the chance to see my beloved family take on the challenge of competing for another victory, another sweep, another win of Sing Song. I couldn't stay away even after having my mind made up for weeks that it would be smarter for me to stay home that weekend. I can't help but still feel in shock for what happened and I can't fully describe just how awful I really think that it is. Some may call this over-reacting, and that's fine, but I think this is one of the worst mistakes that could happen. It exposed some major flaws and gave me an uneasy feeling about the competition. Really, how did this happen?

I know just how bias that I am. I know because I poured my heart into three years of club, a club of women that I believe in, and that I truly believe cannot be stopped because of the unique creativeness and humor that our club defines. Because of the nature of the preparation and the focus that does go into the FUN of sing song practice and the relationships that ultimately form because of those intense 8 weeks leading up to the performances. It really isn't about the win, it is just so sweet when it does happen, and the celebration of it all was destroyed for 2 great clubs. I am sad because AKO had a great show. The audience enjoyed it, it was clever, the colors were great, they worked so hard and ultimately did beat out 2 other clubs and a second place win is a great accomplishment. Now the Siggie show gave me chills at the end, filled me with pride, made me laugh and yell for them, and I could have teared up at the end. All I am trying to say is they were robbed of a great accomplishment and celebration. They were cheated out of singing their song on stage, and sharing that excitement with families and friends that they made a new record of 5 wins in a row for the girls. It just makes me so mad because it was pure incompetence that resulted in hurting so many girls who have worked so hard. I'm just glad that I got to see this scandal unfold and I am waiting for the optimist to post what happened.
Other than that, it was wonderful to see friends this weekend and to be able to enjoy a whole show on the big night. It was a night that I will never forget.

It was so good to see you, Jen. I miss sing song and I miss your socks. I'm glad the siggies won again, even though they made a HUGE mistake!

Jen--Optimist posted the results. It was an Excel error (they input all the scores into a spread sheet and add them up). I can understand how this could have happened because I use Excel for billing at work and usually end up leaving out certain columns...no consipracy after all...though it is a much more fun story!
