That's Not Very Lady Like

So blogging has taken an unfortunate backseat in my not too terribly exciting life. I wish I could say I have a good reason, but I just have had a ton more work to do during the day that leaves me no extra blogging time. Over the past few months I have had thoughts and stories planned out in my head, only needing to be transferred on the keyboard, but to no avail. So I’ll give you some condensed versions.

I went to New York to visit my wonderful crazy friend Moira who grew up across the street from me. Most of the week was a blur, for various reasons. One night we stayed out until the sun came up. Yes, I watched the sun come up from a Hookah Bar at about 6:30 in the morning in New York City with several other strangers-become-friends. Who am I? We met all kinds of interesting people, ate wonderful food in little outside patios, shopped a little, laughed till we cried and genuinely enjoyed each others ever fleeting company.

On the other side of karma I was ripped off by a cab driver because I am an idiot, I dry-heaved looking at the disgusting subway tracks, threw up once, got the biggest blister I have ever seen and a drunk Canadian guy in Moira’s restaurant said F**K YOU to me before he left because I sarcastically said “see you later!” I guess he took my tone very personally. That and Moira changed the language on his phone from English to Spanish when he went to the bathroom.

I took another trip to El Paso with the family recently for a reunion. And boy was it. It is times like those where you realize how lucky you are to have people that you love all in one place, and that only you could possibly understand the unbelievable intricacies of the family dysfunction. So I won’t go into more detail about that except to say for the most part it really was great. My brother and I are so lucky to be the oldest of so many cousins. We have the privilege of caring for them as babies, playing with them as kids, watching them grow up and now being their friends. Perhaps the best part was watching my 26 yr. old brother and my 14 yr. old cousin beat my cocky police officer 44 yr. old twin uncles at basketball three times until we think one of them faked an injury. It was something way overdue and because of the tempers that flew, priceless.
That is about all the time I have. Maybe I will stay on a much more regular blogging schedule, but with a big friend weekend, a Counting Crows concert, and ACL coming up in consecutive weekends, I may have to say adiĆ³s hasta Octubre. Thanks for sticking in there for all of this.
