All things new

Today marks a new beginning for me. The beginning of what everyone seems to be reading about...blogs. I thought for a long time and came to the decision that it is my turn to start something new in my life...and this is what I came up with.

To tell you the truth, I am not really unemployed. I work in an office, and my dad is my boss. I still wake up early every morning, fight through traffic 2 times a day, and receive a paycheck every week. I am filling a temp position until January or so before I have to begin that painful search for jobs in Austin again. The endless hours looking on the computer, hoping to find something that sounds interesting, writing the terrible cover letters personalized for every company, only to hear back from a few shady places. It is something I dread but realize it must be done.

I live for time spent with family and friends. They are who sustain me through the bad times, and rejoice with me through the good...all the while offering their unstaggering support. I LOVE the people in my life. I think the word love is so often carelessly thrown around in our vocabulary, so let me specify what I mean when I say love. It is the kind of love Paul so eloquently describes throughout 1 Corinthians. I am constantly learning how to love in this way.

My stomach drops with excitement at the prospect of reunions. I almost burst into pieces after being able to see so many great friends during the Homecoming weekend. These next few months are going to be a great time for these reunions. First, I am packing my bag and making a run for Mexico. I hear there is an absolutely charming girl waiting there that I have to meet. Legend has it she carries a sign that says "Jean". I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to see this myself. Next is Thanksgiving in El Paso with my crazy Mexican familia and who knows for Christmas and New Years. Yes, the holidays will be full of reunions.

I can't wait.
