Halloween Should Come Twice a Year

This is Hayden, Zach, Kara,
and I at the happening
Halloween party of the year.
Notice how uncomfortable
Zach looks and laugh.

Today is a sad day for prospective trick-or-treaters. A powerful storm decided to roll through here just a few minutes ago with up to 4 inches of rain predicted. Hopefully it will clear up in time for tonight. It seems like each year there are less and less kids coming to our doors to ask for candy, and this disturbs me. I blame it on churches trying to "protect" our kids and getting families a door-to-door knocking alternative, or as I like to call it, robbing kids of their childhood. Let them dress up, let them walk around their neighborhoods, and let them enjoy the wonderful holiday that is HALLOWEEN. I love my childhood memories of riding on dad's shoulders with Stephen (my older brother who I usually call bud or brother) and seeing how much candy we collected at the end of the night while watching one of many scary movies on tv. When I say "scary" I mean movies like ‘Hocus Pocus’ or ‘The Goonies’. Anyway, I hope this storm clears out before tonight or we will have to eat a ton of candy over the next few weeks.

Hayden and I had a wonderfully spontaneous weekend in Abilene with dear Zach and Kara. They had the most happening Halloween party that I have ever attended. I can't even write about some of the things that happened. For crying out loud, this blog is available for the whole world to see. Again, seeing great friends enriches my life on so many levels. We even played a little Halloween trick on these unsuspecting friends in the form of a thank you card. That Hayden...he's so tricky.

I can post anonymously on this one, awesome. Soon I will have to create one for myself just to comment on others. Halloween is crazy. It is like a grub for the world. Weird to think that we keep kids away from candy and strangers all year and on this ne night we send them out to both. Go knock on that door and get as much candy as you can. Eat it all and talk to all strangers, I love it and so do kids. Keep it up, push on with this holiday, it is good. Kenli

I do have to say we had a large increase of tricker treaters compared to last year. Last year we had one 13 yo who didn't even dress up! But..alas..! This year we had about 6 different groups of the cutest kids I have EVER seen! My favorite was one little black boy who was in a black/white striped prison suit with the doo-rag and everything! When I opened the door he shouted "TWICK O TWEET!" I wanted to pick him up and keep him for my very own! (Maybe that is why parents are so scared of their kids going door to door...) annnnyways...it was awesome and i loved it!

We had a lot of tricker treaters as well. Of course, they were all gheto...but very cute none the less:) We had a couple of crap teens who didn't even bother dressing up...excuse me, go to the gas station down the street and BUY your candy if you aren't going to wear a costume (or if you are over 12!!)...it was fun...and I totally agree about sheltering kids from Halloween...it is so stupid. Jesus would totally dress up on Halloween...
