Because we are young and fun

Monday evening after watching the fall finale of Prison Break, Hayden got a call from his baby brother with some terrible news. "Hayden, we lost our waterball game, any way you can come up and play in the tournament on Thursday with us?" At that moment we started planning a possible Thursday afternoon trip to Abilene. He wanted to go just to support his team, his brother, and only play if he absolutely had to. Apparently Taylor had signed him up to play at the beginning of the season for just such a time. They were possibly facing 3 games in one night.

I think waterball is the most exciting sport there is to watch. This could be because, well, I am Hayden’s biggest fan, and watching him play is always so unbelievable. I yell, scream, loose control, and go crazy because I love it so much and it blows my mind how people can physically handle such a rough sport. We left Austin at about 2:00 in the afternoon because I had to work the first part of the day. We arrived at the pool in Abilene a little after the first game started. The first half did not look so good, I thought there was little hope for a victory. Then Hayden changed into his bathing suit, stood on the sidelines, before making the critical decision. Finally, he dove into the water and an eruption of cheers from the crowd flooded the room. (People know him, he is a waterball legend at ACU as far as I am concerned). As soon as he hit the water it was one score after the other, they were unstoppable. Second game, Galaxy was up at the half...again, it didn't look good. Second half they scored 17 points to Galaxy's 4 points and won in a 20-12 victory. The crowd was so loud that once I had to cover my ears. The final game was complete domination. Together, the team was an unstoppable force. What made it such a fantastic night was being able to share all of this with Jevy, Rosie, Kara, and Zach! And we got to see the Siggies beat DT in triple overtime to win the Championship!!! I almost teared up watching them circle up together. We were able to see so many friends, Siggies, Gamma Sigs, and it was a wonderful whirlwind of a night. Right after, we made the drive home so we could be at work the next morning. I am really struggling to stay awake today, but it was a night to remember, and completely worth it just to get to see Hayden dominate at waterball one more time.
